Cdre Chijioke Onyemaobi

Cdre Chijioke Onyemaobi was born on 1 May 1972 in Lagos, Nigeria. After his secondary education at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria in 1988, he proceeded to the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna and graduated with a Bachelors of Engineering degree (B Eng) in 1994. On graduation, he was commissioned into the Nigerian Navy as a marine engineer and member of the 41 Regular Commission. Cdre Chijioke Onyemaobi has attended several military courses within and outside Nigeria. He attended his Junior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, Nigeria and his Senior Staff Course at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Teshie, Ghana. He completed his Strategic Defence Course at the National Defence College Dhaka in Bangladesh.

The senior officer has served in various capacities in the navy both ashore and afloat. He is currently the acting College Secretary and Director Leadership and Management Studies in the Naval War College Nigeria. Prior to this, Cdre Onyemaobi was the Commander Fleet Support Group, Central Naval Command and the Director Marine Engineering at the Naval Headquarters Abuja Nigeria.  He was also a Chief Instructor and Directing Staff respectively at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Nigeria where he contributed to the training of middle level officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces in command and staff duties.

Cdre Chijioke Onyemaobi has been awarded several medals including the Distinguished Service Star, Forces Service Star, Meritorious Service Star and several operations medals for his unblemished service to the nation. Other awards include the Passed Staff Course Dagger (psc+) and distinguished fellow of the Naval War College Nigeria (nwc+). His academic qualifications are, Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical engineering, Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy and a Masters Degree in Strategy and Development Studies. He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Council of Registered Engineers (COREN) and an associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. Cdre Onyemaobi is an avid writer and won the award for best research paper during his Strategic Defence Course at the National Defence College (NDC) Bangladesh and second best research paper during his Senior Course at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Ghana. His work was also published in the NDC Bangladesh Journal 2017 edition. He is married to Mrs. Princess Onyemaobi and the union is blessed with 3 children; 2 boys and a girl. He enjoys playing scrabble, tennis and volley ball.
