Captain (NN) Abolade Olanrele Ogunleye

Captain (NN) Abolade Olanrele Ogunleye was born on 23 May 1970 in Surulere Lagos. He had his Primary and secondary school as well as Advance Level Education between 1976 and 1989. Capt Ogunleye was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1989 as a member of 41 Regular Course and commissioned as Sub-Lieutenant in September 1994. Since commissioning, he has held several appointments onboard and ashore amongst which are; Watch Keeping Officer onboard NNS OHUE and AYAM, Navigating Officer NNS EKUN. He also served as an Instructor, CI and CO in Navigation and Direction School NNS QUORRA. Other appointments are Assistant Director Manning at NHQ and CO NNS UNITY from April 2015 to February 2018. The senior officer is currently the Director of Logistics at the Naval War College Nigeria.

Capt (NN) Ogunleye was the premier Commanding Officer of NNS UNITY, which he sailed safely from China to Nigeria. The senior officer also served as the maritime component in OP RESTORE DEMOCRACY in the Gambia Jan 17 while in Command of NNS UNITY. He partook in EX YONKO PA with Ghanaian Navy in Takoradi Ghana Feb 17. The Senior Officer also participated in several multinational exercises with French, Spanish and Indian Navies as well as other exercises at both NHQ and Command Levels. As part of efforts to combat illegalities in Nigeria’s territorial waters, Capt (NN) Ogunleye made several arrests amongst which are 4 illegally fishing Chinese vessels and several other illegal bunkering vessels. He was the Assistant Director Ops Data NHQ before his current appointment as a DS in NWCN. Courses attended are STC and OLC at NNS QUORRA, Junior and Senior Courses Jaji, Rapid Response Boat Course USA as well as NDC Nigeria.

Capt (NN) Ogunleye has a BSc in Physics as well as MBA in Human Resource Management. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Navigation and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management. He is married with 4 children. The Senior Officer plays tennis, volleyball and table tennis. He also loves reading.
