Commodore OA Adeleke

Commodore Olufemi Adegboyega Adeleke was born on 13 January 1973 at Agege in Lagos State. He hails from Ila-Orangun, Ila-Orangun Local Government Area of Osun State. The officer attended State Primary School Agege Lagos from 1979 and 1984. Thereafter, he proceeded for his secondary school education at St Joseph Secondary School Idimangoro Agege from 1984 to 1989. In August 1990, he was admitted as a member of 42RC at NDA and was subsequently commissioned into the NN as a Sub Lt in 1995.

The officer has served in various capacities at different ranks during the course of his career. He served as an Under Training Officer (Weapon Electrical Engineering) onboard NNS AMBE in 1995 before proceeding for ECOMOG operation in Liberia and Sierra Leone onboard the same ship as a Watch Keeping Officer in 1996. The Officer was also the Weapon Engineering Officer onboard NNS EKPE from 2002 to 2005. Subsequently, he was appointed as the Deputy Fleet Support Weapon Electrical Engineering Officer at the Fleet Support Group (West) from 2005 to 2006. He was later appointed as the SOII R&D at the defunct Fleet Maintenance Corp from 2007 to 2009. Adeleke also served as the OIC Weapon Engineering School at the Nigerian Naval Engineering College (NNEC) Sapele from 2009 to 2010 before proceeding to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) where he served as a DS from 2010 to 2012. Olufemi was also the OIC Fleet Support Unit PATHFINDER from 2012 to 2013 before proceeding to serve as an Exchange DS at the South African National War College, Pretoria from 2013 to 2015. On return from South Africa, he was appointed Assistant Director Air Engineering at the NHQ Abuja, where he served from October 2015 to August 2016. He also served as the Deputy General Manager Planning at the Naval Dockyard Limited from September 2017 to August 2018. Adeleke is presently a Directing Staff at the Naval War College Ubima, Rivers State.

Adeleke has attended several military and civil courses. The military courses include the Officers’ Application Course at NNEC in 1997, Junior Course at the AFCSC Jaji in 2002, the Senior Course at AFCSC Jaji in 2006 and the National Defence College from September 2016 to August 2017. His civil qualifications are BEng Electrical/Electronics Engineering from NDA in 1994, Masters in Maintenance Engineering and Asset Management from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom and Masters in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan.

The officer is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a Member Nigerian Institute of Management and a Registered Member, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.

Commodore OA Adeleke enjoys listening to music and playing table tennis. He is married to Mrs Olubunmi Iyabode Adeleke and blessed with 2 girls and a boy.
